CPS signs solar power agreement - Business First of Louisville:

The 27-megawatt solar project known as Western Ranch is being developeeby Houston-based using the SunCatcher powerf system manufactured by its sister Stirling Energy Systems. This will be the firstt Texas project forTessera Solar, whicu currently has 1,500 megawatts of projects in Californiq situated in Imperial Valley and the Mojave “This marks our first purchas e of solar-generated energy, and we look for it to be the starg of a successful solar program for many years to come,” says CPS Energy CEO Miltomn B. Lee. “Solar will complement our diversified approach toproducing electricity.
We look forwarfd to working with Tessera to help satisfgyour customers’ electric needs in Greated San Antonio.” CPS announced last summer its commitmenyt to pursue up to 100 megawatts of resourcer capacity from solar energy. The Western Ranch Solar projectf is expected to break grounfd in summer 2010 with the firsty units expected to come online by the endof 2010. The projecg will be comprised of 1,080 SunCatcher dishezs and will create an estimated 100 construction jobs and up to 20permanen jobs. CPS Energy of San Antonio is the nation’sx largest municipally owned energy company providing both natural gas andelectric service.
