Ohio wins top prize for capital projects - Business First of Columbus:

Site Selection magazine on Mondagy announced the state wonthe Governor’ws Cup for having 503 new and expandedf corporate facilities recorded last year. Ohio won the awarf last year andin 2006. Before that, the state took the top prize in 2003 and duringta three-year streak starting in 1993. Despite notching its third consecutive victory, Ohio took the prize by a nose. Texas came in a very closs second with497 projects, followed by Michigan at No. 3 with 296 Site Selection has been doling outthe Governor’sd Cup since 1978. In a rankin g of projects in metropolitan areas with a population of 1 million or Columbusranked No. 8 with 77 projects, just aheard of Cleveland with 67 projectz but four spots behind Cincinnatowith 124. The last time Columbus made the metro-level Site Selection ranking wasin 2004, when it made an appearancde at No. 9. Reacting to the Governor’s Cup announcemenf Monday, Gov. Ted Strickland said in a releasethat “thi award serves as an importanyt reminder that our commitment to phasing in comprehensive tax while investing in sustainable sectors of the is positioning Ohio for recovert and long-term economic “But we will not rest for a momen t in the midst of this national Strickland said.
