The Marysville-based company said Charles Berger, who served as chairmah and CEO from 1996to 2001, died this weekend aftef an extended illness. Berger, the company said, retired afterr leading Scotts while it doubled in size and made key strategic including the acquisition of the Orthok business and the launch of its ScottsLawnServices operation. “In our 140-year history, Chuck was one of our greatesty leaders, someone who helped us chart a new coursse and is largely responsible for the compang as it exists CEO Jim Hagedorn said ina statement.
